Discovered years afterwards in a curiosity shop in Flanders, it was again lost in France during the Revolution. It has now been entrusted to Capt. Henry Stuart Wheatly-Crowe, president of the Royal Martyr Church Union and Gov-ernor-general of the Royal Staurt Society. He is placing it temporarily in a church.

Robert Bruce wished his heart to be buried at Jerusalem, and when he died the heart, in a silver casket, was taken abroad by Douglas But Douglas was killed in battle in Spain with the silver casket hanging round his neck.
