MEETING OF EXECUTIVE ATTITUDE TOWARDS “CUT” ■ (By Telegraph—Press Association) PALMERSTON N., This Day. The Dominion executive of the Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association held an important meeting at the weekend to consider the line of action by the whole public service to furnish organised opposition when the Finance Bill is carried. A resolution war. passed that an attempt he made ultimately to have instituted a system whereby the determination of public service salaries and conditions ho removed from Hie political arena.
At a reunion of the Palmerston North branch on Saturday evening reference was made to pending salary cuts, fl lie president of the Dominion Association said that the fight had only just begun, and the association had assets to the value of £17,000. “You will probably have an opportunity ol showing what you think of the members of Parliament responsible. I hope von express in a fitting manner next December what you think of the men responsible for the cut in your salaries. We have to mix ourselves up with politics. I don’t mean you should ally yourselves with any particular party.”
