The aviator Broadbent started for Australia at 0 a.m. from Hanworth. His departure was probably the most lonely and most unobtrusive of an Australian flyer. The only witness to the departure was a National Flying Services engineer, who says that Broadbent took off without any preliminaries. It is believed that his first stop will be at Munich, a distance of 500 miles. He carried an extra petrol tank alongside the cockpit.
