NELSON DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB SEVENTH CHAMPIONSHIP SHOOT J. VITETTA LEADS (By “Rifleman”) The Nelson Defence Rifle Club com--pleted the seventh round of the championship series at Wakapuaka range last •Saturday. The weather for shooting was somewhat boisterous, there being rapid changes in light and in force of wind which blew strongly up the range. Under such conditions, however, the shooting was quite good, for at 300 yards Riflemen Norriss, Vitetta, Manssen and Dixon scored well above the standard for this range. At 500 yards. Riflemen Vitetta, Mitchener, Barnett and Inwood each reached the standard, 48. The best lange total off the rifle was secured by Rifleman J. Vitetta who scored 95 points. He takes the spoon and feathers, while Rifleman R. Norriss who secured 96, including handicap, takes the spoon and feathers for handicap men. Last Saturday’s shoot was the last of three (two to count) for Mr T. Field’s trophy. The winner proved to be Rifleman J. Vitetta, whose aggregate score was 191 points, the runner-up being R. Norriss, 183-4—187. Points for the Wastnev _ Cup were awarded as follows: R. Norriss 5, J. Vitetta 4, N. Manssen 3, W. Martyn 2 and VV. Mitchener 1.
J VITETTA LEADS FOR CHAMPIONSHIP The following are leading for the Club Championship, there being three more shoots to complete:—J. Vitetta 467, S. Barnett 461, F. Sharlancl 459, L. Dixon and W. Kenning 451, N. Manssen 450, H. Frank and F. Gledhill 449, E. R-us sell 448, R. Norriss 445, and C. Batchelor 442. Several others with scores down to 417 are still in the competition. HANDICAP AGGREGATE The leading scores in the handicap aggregate (championship), all scores to count, are: J. Vitetta 644-1—645; S. Barnett 639-1—640; L. Dixon 624-14 638; C. Batchelor 614-24—638; F. Sharland 633-scr—633; P. Burn 604-29 —633 ; R. Kenning 600-31 —631; L. Gore 589-41 —630; and several others down to 606 are still in this competition.
