INDIA’S FUTURE
VICEROY AND GANDHI LITTLE HOPE FROM CONVER* SATIONS (United Pres 3 Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) DELHI, 22nd February. While India is praying that conversations between the Viceroy and Gandhi might bring a change of heart in India’s smiling Sphinx, little hope is felt from what Gandhi lias said in interviews. Full and frank discussions on all points brought no more than the pious utterance that the future is with God. It is understood that Gandhi insists that the Government should declare that Indians shall be free to continue civil disobedience and the manufacture of salt, and if necessary be allowed to continue the picketing of foreign cloth and liquor shops, but some other Congi'ess leaders are working towards conciliation.
