ROWING
CREWS IN TRAINING PREPARATION FOR VISIT TO WESTPORT (By ‘’Stroke”) The Gotliard Cup and Maiden crews have been training fairly consistently during the past week. The weather has improved and this has given the members an opportunity of getting in some solid work in preparation for their visit to Westport at Easter. Russell, the bow for tiie Gotliard Cup crew, has had a slight accident, but will be able to get out again shortly. To relieve the position meanwhile Curry has filled his place. This crew has been practising the start, also the catch, which is well up to standard. The Maiden crew lias been doing some good work getting in a number of short, fast- rows. It would ho, better for this crew to practise the catch. Ricketts is improving. It would be advisable for the Youths Crew to take things more seriously and get in a little more practice. Although the Club race crews have been selected none of the crews lias been out yet. However, it is hoped that all the crews will commence training next week
VISITORS FROM PICTON During last week end Mr Jackson from Picton visited the Club and gave a most interesting lecture on rowing. A large number of members were present and were greatly interested in what the speaker had to' say. He emphasised that a young Club should have the services pi experienced coaches so that the new members could be taught to row- correctly. . \ number of members from the wf rau Club paid a visit to the Club and thoroughly enjoyed the row on Nelson Harbour.
