LOWER SAUSAGE STANDARD LONDON, 12tli February The historic controversy regarding the contents of sausages was revived in the small German State of Mecklen-burg-Schwerin, where the holders of titheablc property in the town of Demon have been bound for 150 years to contribute yearly 1301 b of mcttwurst, a local delicacy, to support the church. The custom gradually fell into desuetude, but the church renewed the claim in 1928, and obtained a judgment for three years’ overdue supply, which was duly paid, reports the Berlin correspondent of the “Times.” However, the church’s representative, after tasting the sausage, declared that the quality was not equal to that supplied formerly, owing to there being insufficient minced lean p>ork used. The food inspector agreed that too much beef was included, whereupon the church rejected the sausage and recommenced the proceedings. The whole population was keenly interested in discussing the contents and unearthing ancient recipes which have been put in as evidence.
