Arising out of a recent application by the Railway Commissioners in eastern States for the right to vary employees' ■ awards in order to institute emergency ■ schemes of retrenchment, the High. Court, was asked by unions and the Federal Government to decide the ques- " tion whether State railway authorities could be made parties to Federal awards. ✓ The Court to-day decided in the affirmative.
