PRISONER'S ATTEMPT TO ESCAPE
(By Telegraph—Press Association) HAMILTON, This Day. Whare Matanli, who was sentenced this morning in the Supreme Court to two years' hard labour, and was declared an habitual criminal, attempted to break away from the police escort on leaving the Court for his cell. It took the combined efforts of several warders and policemen to handcuff him. While struggling on the ground the prisoner declared that lie did not care if they hanged him.
