DEATHS EXCEED BIRTHS Vital statistics for the whole of France during 1929 show by comparison with 1928 a decrease in the birth rate and an increase in the death rate, both of children under one year and of the population as a whole. The figures are as follows: —
There were 10,785 fewer births, while the number of deaths, excluding still-born, increased by 05,994. The marriage rate per 1000 has fallen from 10.5 to 10.2, the birth rate from 15.2 to 17.7, and the death rate lias risen from 10.5 to 1.8.
