SENIOR COMPETITION RESULTS OF SATURDAY’S PLAY Senior: Hospital 2. Athletic 1. Thistle 8, Y.M.O.A, 2. Association games were continued on Saturday, under good weather conditions. HOSPITAL V. ATHLETIC

The game between Hospital and Athletic was played at Stoke. The teams lined up in the following order: Hospital—Dickenson; Coxhill, Hasler; Winnie, Lynch, Varlcy; Ashton, Dowling, Dickenson, Kissock, Ell wood. Athletic—McKcllur; Turner, George; Cowman, Gould, Muncaster; (l. Smith, Beveridge, Richards, Hunt, W. Smith. Hospital won the toss. Richards kicked oil' for Athletic, who took the play to the Hospital goal and forced a corner, which was taken by G. Smith, tlie hall going out of play. Hospital set up an attack, hut the hall went wide. From the kick-oil' the hall was carried down the field; Coxhill cleared. Ellwood, a. young player, took the hall down, forcing Turner to give a corner in clearing. Play hovered round the Athletic goal for some time and they were forced to give a corner. Ashton took the kick, placing well for Dowling to meet and score a nice goal. Hospital i, Athletic 0.

From tlie kick-oil play went to the other end where Beveridge put in a nice centre, only to see it go over the bar. Athletic looked dangerous for some time, hut Coxhill cleared well to Ellwood who took the hall down the field, gave a good pass to Dickenson, who shot past when well placed. From the goal kick W. Smith obtained possession, and centred well, forcing Hasler to concede a corner which came to nothing. Athletic still kept play round the Hospital goal. Coxhill cleared from a dangerous position. Hospital pressed again, but had their chance spoilt .by Dowling getting ofl'-side. A good pass by Richards enabled G. Smith to send in a good shot, which just skimmed the bar. Not to he denied Athletic came again. Winnie saved his side with a fine kick when a goal seemed certain. At the other end Lynch put in a fine shot but a little too high. Through Coxhill miskicking Athletic had a good chance hut the same player came hack and cleared Richard’s kick at goal. Ellwood was prominent again, and he centred well, the balj going hack to him to put behind: Half-time arrived without further score.

From tlie kick-off Hospital went away, {day being spoilt by Kissock waiting off-side. At the other end a fine bit of play and a centre by G. Smith was met hv Gould, who put in a powerful shot which just went too high. Shortly after Richards made another good attempt. Both teams were making good openings but seemed to he unable to put the hall in the right place. After some give and take play Ellwood went through and scored a splendid goal, making Hospital 2 to nil. Athletic pressed for some time hut a good defence kept them out. Richards just missed a goal sending the hall over the bar. Kissoelc had a chance but put the ball outside. Muncaster placed nicely to Richards who gave one of his old-time shots landing in tlie corner of tlie net and giving the goalkeeper no chance. This goal spurred Athletic on for further efforts, add pressing hard had a corner conceded. .From the kick the hall went to Richards who put in another fine drive, blit Dickenson made a marvellous save, conceding a corner by tipping over the bar. Tlie corner came to naught. Shortly after they had another which Beveridge put behind. Just on tinie Athletic came again and looked dangerous but Coxhill cleared. The whistle went leaving Hospital victors by 2 goals to 1.

THISTLE V. Y.M.C.A. Tlie Thistle v. Y.M.C.A. game was played at Victory Square. The Y.M.C.A. team, although playing 10 men, gave the Thistle a fright by their stubborn play, being beaten by only a goal after leading most of the time. Coals for Y.M.C.A. were scored by Christinson (2); and De Fue and Campbell (2) scored for Thistle. Prominent players for Y.M.C.A. were Kirby, Stevens, Cordell, Faultliorpe and Christinson; and for Thistle, Smith, Hurst and Campbell.
