HARBOUR BOARD (From Our Own Correspondent) At the monthly meeting of the Motueka Harbour Board, held on Friday, the harbourmaster (Mr P. G. Moffatt) presented the following report on the trade of the port for the month of April last: — The total revenue received amounted to £724 4s 7d, compared with £3Bl 12s lOd for the corresponding month of last year. These totals are made up as follows (the figures for the corresponding month of last year being given in parenthesis):— Wharfage, inwards £3B 12s 8d (£42 13s); outwards £G4O lis (£322 5s 9d); total wharfage £079 3s 8d ( £3G4 18s 9d)j tonnage allies £l4 Cs lid (£9 lOsjid); storage £25 lis (£2 10s); weighing lis (19s 9d); fresh water (for ships) £4 12s (£3 8s); totals £724 4d d ( £3Bl 12s lOd). The number of steamers entered and left the port was 72, with a total in registered tonnage of GBOI, compared with 47 steamers, with a total registered tonnage of 4GOO tons, for the previous April month. The total quantity of fruit shipped for the month, calculated in computed bushel eases, was 150,737, compared with 100,903 for April 1929. The total quantity of export fruit shipped from the port for this (1930) season was 277,745 cases, compared with 217,207 cases for the 1929 season. During the whole of the export fruit season although such large quantities of fruit were shipped, the business of the port went on smoothly and cargo space at '■ the wharf was not severely congested, owing to the Tegular arrival and de- j parture of steamers providing all re-; quirements. Now that the time will be available, opportunity will be taken for completing several work's that we had in hand, and to undertake some repair work and other jobs requiring attention.
