OF PROPRIETOR OTTAWA, 19th May. ■ The "Acadian Recorder," of Halifax, Nova Scotia, a daily evening newspaper., which was the first newspaper published in Halifax—its first publication was in 1813—has just ceased publication. Last month Mr Charles Blackadar, who was tho proprietor of the' paper for 61 .years, died and the paper, which still stuck to the hand-setting type, was advertised for sale. There was no bidder, and, under the terms j of_ Mr Bfackadar's will, the enterprise is extinguished.
