REGENT: "FROZEN JUSTICE" Lcuorc Uh'ic's first role for the talking Rcroen, that of "Talu" in ''Frozen Justice" is, in 0110 respect, not unlike her greatest role of recent years, "Lulu Belle." in both "Lulu Belle" and in "Frozen Justice" she portrays a woman of mixed blood heritage; in the former she was a mulatto; in the latter she is a half caste bride of a northern chief. In both eases the celebrated emotional actress creates a character whose life is a succession of conflicts, due primarily to the struggle of her different racial instincts. "Talu" opens at the Regent to-night.

CONRAD KAGEL IN "13th CHAIR"

Conrad Nagel, who recently has scored sensational hits in talking pictures, and Leila Hyams. are the romantic centre of "The 13th Chair," Mctro-Goldwyii-Mayer's all-talking iilinisation of the celebrated, stage play, to be shown at the Regent Theatre on Saturday and Monday next. Tod Browning directed the new thriller, a mystery drama of Calcutta, with Margaret Wycherly in the role she created on the stage, that of the strange spirit medium. The picture combines in a romance with a series of uncanny scenes revealing the hoaxes practised by mediums and spiritualists. Fantastic sound .effects heighten the creepy sensations aroused by table tapping and other ghostly occurrences which reach a startling climax. India is used as atmosphere for the mystery and eerie shadows. One of the dramatic scenes takes place in the home of the British governor in Calcutta at midnight when a knife thrown into the ceiling is revealed by the moonlight shining into the room. A capable cast includes Mary Forbes, Bela Lugosi, Helene Millard* Holmes Herbert, Cyril Cluidwick, Frank Leigh and others.

MAJESTIC THEATRE: LAST NIGHT OF "FOX FOLLIES'*

That Bright and sparkling screen revue, "Fox Follies," which has been attracting crowded houses to the Majestic Theatre, will have its final screening to-night.

1 'MASQUERADE" TO-MORROW "Masquerade," a Fox Movietone alltalking comedy drama, adapted from "The Brass Bowl," by Louis J. Vance, will be screened at the Majestic theatre to-morrow and on Saturday. Alan Birmingham, late leading man for Eva La' Galliene, and Leila Hyams, noted blonde beauty of the screen, are co-featured in this production. Birmingham plays a dual role. He portrays Dan Maitland, young New York man-about-town, and Dan Anisty, notorious society bandit who so closely resembles Maitland that he is able to impersonate him. Maitland is intrigued bv a "lady burglar" who mysteriously loots his apartment, and seeking adventure helps her rob his own sate, telling her lie is Anisty, the notorious bandit. The real Anisty steps from behind a portiere with a gun at this point, and demands, the Maitland jewels just taken from the safe. From this point on, the action is fast and furious until the denouement which provides a surprising climax. The box plans are at the Majestic Confectionery.
