Accounts amounting to £1844 6s lOd won- passed for payment. The report 01 tiio Principal of Uic Girls' College (Miss Mills) was received. The Principal of the Boys' College (Mr C. 11. Broad), drew the Board's attention to the Scriptorium. Since the earthquake last June the. northern door had been closed, as the architect had said that, the tower was unsafe. The matter was referred to tho House Committee with power to act in regard to getting a report, if necessary, on the state of the building. The removal of Granville's house and its re-erection was referred to the House Committee. The question of temporarily housing the boarders now occupying the dwelling was also left to a, committee. Miss J. D. Stephens, 8.. A., who lias been relieving at the Girls' College, was appointed as a permanent C grade assistant .; Miss Vidji Bremnor, from Napier High School, was appointed Home Science Mistress; and Miss Joan A. Ellis, now relieving at the Hamilton High School, was appointed to a position of general D grade assistant. Jl'he resignation of Miss MeHaffic was accepted. Miss Mcllaffio has been appointed to a position at the Southland Girls' High School. The Minister of Education is to be asked to instruct Mr Savidge, Government architect, on his forthcoming visit to Nelson, to inspect the Fairfield property and report on its suitability of ultimately accommodating the whole of the boarding establishments for the Girls' College. The inspectors' report on the two cotleges was received. Attention was drawn to a paragraph in the general comments which read as follows:

"In spite of the disorganisation consequent upon the earthquake disaster of last year the' work of Iho Boys College in many directions showed distinct. improvement. This was particularly noticeable in the case of the younger members of the staff, most of whom are rapidly gaining confidence, and settling down' into good methods. The extra classroom activities of the, College are many and varied, and to these members of the staff give freely of then; time and interest. The tone and discipline are excellent." .
