LEADER, AIASTER CLARENCE AND PRAISE

(By Telegraph—Special to “The Mail’’)

CHRISTCHURCH, 9th April. Leader has shown signs of soreness lately and he has not done a great deal of work during the last few weeks. He figures as an acceptor for the Great Easter Handicap, but it is Jar from certain that lie will be a starter, even if he trains on well, as some of the minor events may suit him better. Master Clarence is out of. commission at present. He went sore recently, and though he became quite sound again after a short rest, it was decided to give him a spell for a few weeks. F. P. Claridge will take him in hand again shortly, and will prepare him for Winter, racing. Master Clarence has been a very solid performer during the last few months and is likely to show a further improvement later in the year. The two-yearmld filly Praise has no engagements at the Canterbury .Jockey Club’s Autumn Meeting, and ‘it is not intended to race her again this season. There is nothing 7 amiss with her, but slfe is growing and it has been deemed advisable to give her time to mature. She -should make a great sprinter next season.
