STOKE
RBOGRESSJVE ASSOCIATION
At the monthly meeting of the Stoke Progressive Association a letter was read from the Minister of Lands stating that, lie was conferring with his colleague the Minister of Public Works in connection with the vesting of the Stoke Waterworks Reserve in the Wair.iea Conn I v Council.
Members present considered the letter very unsatisfactory as the Association was informed nearly a year ago that the Minister of Public Works had considered and finalised the matter as far as his Department was concerned.
it was resolved on the motion of Messrs Heath and Grant that a deputation consisting of Messrs Macmalion, Pickup, Giblin and Tate wait on the Hon. 11. Atinore asking him to again approach the Minister of Lands and endeavour to get the matter settled. The secretary was instructed to write to tlie Count.v Council expressing appreciation of the work recently done in the riding, especially at the 'Turf Hole] corner; also drawing the Council’s attention to tlie bad state of tlie water-tables in Station road; and suggesting that the cost of installing corner lights be included in tlie estimates for the coming year.
j It was resolved that the attention of , the Freezing Company he drawn to the : danger .caused hv the hedge at the main entrance to the Freezing Works which obscures the view of the road.
