CHINA'S MONETARY SYSTEM

The American Financial Commission, headed by Dr. E. W. Kemmerer, after a study occupying a year concerning China's monetary system, reports, advising the reorganisation of currency on a gold basis. The note issue should be made a monopoly of the Central Reserve Bank. FINANCIAL AMALGAMATION (Received 31st March, 8.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, 29th March. It is understood that the amalgamation is pending of the Guaranty Trust, Bankers' Trust, and New York Trust companies, with total resources exceeding three thousand million dollars. There is no other recent combination so large. LONDON WOOL SALES Messrs E. Buxton and Co., Ltd., are in receipt of the following wool market cablegram from their London agents, Messrs Sanderson, Murray and Elder, Ltd., dated 29th inst.:—Sales continue. Strong tone. Very keen competition. Greasy merino shows a hardening tendency. Crossbred greasy market shows a hardening tendency.
