DISTRICT SHIELD WON BY MAITAI
The final match for the District Shield was played on the Nelson Club's green on Saturday between the home team and Maitai, when th© last-named won comfortably by 25 points—l2o to 95. Of the six rinks played Maitai won on four and Nelson on two. The results were (Maitai rinks mentioned first) : Foster, Adams, Stevens, Logan (s) 14; Spear, Moore, Kemp, W.- Dee (s) 19. Gibbs. Dee, MeComish (s) 18: Bannerman, Buckeridge, Coltman, Bartlctt (s) 20. Russell, Lo Frantz, A. Dee, DUnpby (s) 23; Craighead, Brown, Claughton, Carter (s) 18. CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS PERSICO WINS SENIOR AND HUNTER JUNIOR
The champion of champions* tournament was concluded on the Maitai green on Saturday afternoon, when Persico (Maitai) won the senior and Hunter (Nelson) tlie junior. Persico lost his first game against and in the fifth round had to meet Rudman, who had gone through without a loss. Ine Maitai representative won hy five points; and therefore had to meet Rudman again in the final. The deciding game was not so even, Persico, who was playing splendidly, winning by 20 points to 11. In the junior competition in the final against Lloyd (Richmond), Hunter was at one stage of the game 11 down; but eventually won bv a bare point—2o to 19. . . The concluding rounds resulted:— Senior—Fourth round: Persico 14 beat Kingsland (Wakefield) 9. Rudman a bye. Fifth: round: Persico 14 beat Rudman 9. Final-: Persico 20, beat Rudman 11. , ' . 0 , Junior.—Fourth round: Hunter Z 5 beat Inwood (Motueka) 6. Lloyd a bye. Fifth round:-Lloyd 1G beat Hunter 5. Final: Hunter 20, beat Lloyd 19. EASTER TOURNAMENT Up to the present, the following entries have been received for the Nelson Easter Bowling Tournaments: Victoria (Wellington) 2 rinks, Takaka 2, Kelburn, Canterbury, Greymoutli 2, Hataitai, Karori 3, Wellington 2, Seatown, Greytown, Hutt Valley, Mapua, Nelson 3, Maitai 10. A further number equal to that received is expected.
LEAPER SHIELD The final game for the Leapor Shield, which is a play off between the Nelson and Mailai Clubs, will take place on Saturday next.
