HORSES IN PREPARATION FOR SOUTH CANTERBURY (Hy Telegraph—Special to "The Mail") CHRISTCHURCH, 29th March. Abcrfeldy will make bis reappearance among jumpers at the South Canterbury meeting, lie has had some schooling lately, and has shown that he has lost none of his ability in that direction, so that he is liable to get some of the money. His stable mate Gala Day may be ail. absentee, as the mishap which occurred to him while racing at Waiimito will necessitate a short spell during the process of recovery. It was an unfortunate accident as Gala Day looked like doing R. W. King excellent service in the early meetings. H. Nurse will have Lancer and After Ten to represent his stable in the hurdle races at South Canterbury. They were schooled in. company today and gave a good display of jumping, but they will be benefited bv racing. After Teii is a promising novice, while Lancer is in a higher class, being a great prospect for important events in the winter. , . Master Clarence was not raced at YYaimate or Oamaru, though he made the trip south. He might have been given a run had rain, softened the track, but as ho had done no work for a week his trainer decided that it would be inadvisable to race him on the hard ground. He is all right now and he will have to be reckoned with at South Canterbury. Topere came through his recent southern trip in capital condition, and ho should be ready to show good form m approaching engagements. Figures in the Timaru Cup, in which he will meet stronger opposition than he has so far tackled, but he can be relied on to race well.

Won by a head. Tidal was last, Time, 2.22. Highweight, (second division)—l rue Shaft, J 8.3, (Reed), 1; Malvina, 9.0, (Cook), 2; Luita. 9.10 (Cracknell) 3. Ten started. Won by a head. Time, 1.26.
