The Assembly carried the second reading of the Riotous Assemblies Bill, to cope with seditious tendencies among natives. The Provincial Council elections in the Transvaal resulted in the elimination of the Creswellite" section of the Labour Party and substantial gains for tho South African Party in constituencies held by ministerialists at the General Election in June last. TRANSVAAL ELECTIONS AWKWARD POSITION FOR HERTZOG CABINET (Received 29th March, 10.5 a.m.) CAPETOWN, 28th Mai;ch. Tho Tr'ansVaal Provincial Council elections results create an awkward position for General Hertzog's Cabinet, for all Creswell (Labour) Party candidates having been ' defeated, including Mr Creswell and Mr Sampson (Minister of Posts), the Nationalists must supply the Chairman of the Council. thus creating even numbers — questions on which the Opposition is united.
