RUBBISH FIRES AND HOSPITAL PATIENTS
(To the Editor) Sir.—For some weeks nasi the patients in the Nelson Hospital have been seriously inconvenienced by the smoke from rubbish fives which seem to be chiefly located in that wide area of upper Toi Toi Valley. The nuisance is more noticeable usually during tho afternoon and evening hours. The wafted funics at times are distinctly pungent and disagreeable and by no means safe or pleasant for sick people to inhale. Thesfires seem to bo in progress on all days and at any hour. In most centres rubbish fires are allowed only by permission from the City Council or governing power, and prevail on one day in the week.—l am, etc., HOSPITAL VISITOR.
