POSITION OF JUNIOR CHAMPION

A special meeting of the Nelstn Cricket Association was hold last eve niug, when there won- present: Messrs A. Robinson (chairman), T. Sou re 11, II Askew (Waliiitu), ('. Kinwtl. L. Jlil (Athletic), A. ,). Gray (College), W Vaughun (Victory), (i. Coleman (Ta liuna), S. Thomas (Mental Hospital) and the secretary, 11. Dickson.

Before commencing the ordinary business the chairman made reference to the death of an old enthusiastic cricketer, the late -Mr D. Burnett, who represented Nelson as far hack as 1874 and played against the Englishmen in 1H77. A vote of condolence was passed to the relatives, members standing as a mark of respect. The Wakatu Club was granted the use of the senior wicket at. the Park next Saturday to play Midland. The City Council was granted the use of H junior wicket at the Park to play an Inside v. Outside staffs match.

Two letters were received from the Tahuna Club complaining of the stale of the Tahuna ground. The chairman considered the ground totally unfit for cricket. . The chairman was iuflhorised to represent the Association in requesting the Tahuna Town Board to assist in [laving the ground top-dressed and put in order.

The Hospital Club was given permission to play Brightwater next Saturday. The lack of interest of clubs in not sending delegates to Association meetings was commented on. The secretary was instructed to write r.o the City Council asking for the use or Trafalgar Park from 22nd September for next season's cricket.

The secretary mentioned the fitato of the junior competition in which there are :t number of unfinished matches—an innings by each side not being completed. The points of the leading teams are such that the playing off of the matches will probably affect the result of the championship. Old Boys and P. and T., Athletic and Tahuna, Athletic-and Old Boys, and Tahuna and College have uncompleted games. It was decided to finish the match between Tahuna and Athletic next Saturday. CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS The following table shows the present state of the junior championship:

FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY Cricket fixtures for the 29th instant are as follows: College will play Post and Telegraph at. the College. Tahuna and Atheletic will complete their unfinished game at the Park. Wakatu will play Midlands on the senior wicket. A friendlv game has been arranged between the "Inside" Staff and the "Outside" Staff of the Nelson City Council at the Park. Every endeavour is being made to send a'mixed team of juniors and seniors to Takaka. .
