MAKURA DELAYED
TROUBLE WITH ENGINE

WELLINGTON, This Day
The San Francisco mail steamer Makura was delayed in her arrival from Sydney to-day. Trouble developed in the engine roojn last night and assistance was wirelessed for. The tug Toia was dispatched this morning and helped the liner to port, arriving about 9 o'clock. With the assistance of the tug Terawhiti the Makura was safely berthed at the wharf. The trouble was to the port engine and is serious enough to detain the vessel here for minor repairs. Her place in the San Francisco run will be taken by the Marama due here tomorrow from Sydney. Temporary repairs to the Makura will be effected here and sho returns to Sydney on Friday, where complete repairs will be effected.
