Previous to starting on the Maitai Green the president of the Maitai Clnb f.Mr Brundell) welcomed the visitors on behalf of the Nelson Centre, making special mention of the fact that the Awatere Club which had only been in existence for 2 years had brought four rinks through. He also congratulated the Marlborough Centre on such a large representative of 13 rinks and expressed the hope that Nelson would return the compliment next year by sending as many if not more in return.

NELSON CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP On Saturday afternoon the senior champion of the Nelson Club was decided Rudman and Claughton playing the final game. The winner was Rudman who becomes champion for 1930 with Claughton as runner up. B. C. Nealo is the junior champion but the runner up is still to be decided. CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS On Saturday next on the Maitai green all the clubs of the Nelson Centre are requested to send over their senior and junior champions to play in the chainton of champions games.
