ESSAY COM PETITIONS' FOR 1930 b
LONDON, 21st January. With a view to encouraging the progress of imperial studies in tho schools of tho Empire, and among the children of British subjects generally, the 'Council of the Royal Empire Society has decided to award in 1930 medals and prizes for tho best essays sent in by boys or girls in three classes. The subjects prescribed are:— Class A. —Britain in the Pacific — Past, Present, and Future. Class 13.—Great Seaports of the Empire. Class C.—The Story of the Canadian Railways.
The prizes and medals to he awarded will ho as follows: Class A.—For candidates of 16 and under 19 on 30th November. 1930. First prize: The silver’medal of the Royal Empire Society,- together with suitably inscribed books, dr 'other approved articles to tho value, of six guineas. Second ]>rizo: If there he a sufficient number of candidates, suitably inscribed books, or other approved articles, to the value of four guineas. Class B.—For candidates of 14 and under 16 on 30th November, 1930. First prize: The bronze medal of the Royal Empire Society, with suitably inscribed boons, or other approved articles, to the value of three guineas. Second prize: If there be a sufficient number of candidates, suitably" inscribed books, or other approved articles, to tho value of two guineas. Class C.—For candidates under the age of 14 on 30th November. 1930. First prize: The bronze medal of the Royal Empire Society, with suitably inscribed books, or other approved articles, to the value of two guineas. Second prize : If there be a sufficient number of- candidates, suitably inscribed books, or other approved articles, to the value of oue and a-half guineas.
