Friday’s closing prices for the following raw materials were as follow, those for Ist March being given in parentheses : Cotton. —Liverpool quotation, American middling Upland, April delivery, 7.85 c! per lb (8.14 d). Rubber. —Para, djjd per lb (8fjcl); plantation smoked, 6 5-8 d per lb (7 7-Bd). 1 Jute. —March-April, £23 17s 6d per ton (£26 7s 6d). Hemp.—None offering. Copra.—March-April shipment, South Sea, £l9 12s 6d'per ton £2O 10s); plantation, Rabau, £l9 17s 6d (£2O 15s). Linseed Oil.—£4o per ton (£42 10s). Turpentine. —43s 6d per cwt (43s 9d). Osmiridium.—Position is unchanged, with a, weakening tendency. Last week Tasmanian was quoted at £l6 per ounce, and South African at £l3 10s per ounce.

DROP IN WOOL VALUES ADELAIDE, 10th March. The Government Statist gives an illustration of the decline in wool values of the South Australian clip. He estimates that the value of the clip for the year ending June next will amount to £2,580,000 with an average price of 0.55(1 per pound for greasy. Last year it was £4,054,172 with a value of 14.07 d compared with 17.30(1 the previous scasop.

LONDON MARKETS The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated Bth inst., from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow.—Moderate demand at auction this week at prices Is to Is 6d below previous sale rates; 627 packages offered, 332 sold. Present quotations are Mutton, fine 40s per cwt, fair to good 36s to 38s, dark to dull 33s to 345; beef, sweet and/or mixed 37s to 425, fair io good 34s -to 36s 6d, dark to dull 32s to 335, fine 375; mix*fed, fair to good 33s 6d to 365, dark to dull 32s to 335; gut, etc., 30s to 325. Hemp.—Manila easier, with moderate business at.the decline. “J” grade March-May shipment sold at £29 10s. •Sisal - market quiet and easier. Fair average quality No. 1 for March-April shipment sold at £33 10s and good marks offered at £34 10s. No buyers at present. No. 2, value of good marks at £33 10s and fair average quality £33. New Zealand: More offering, but buyers bolding back. March-May shipment position as last week. No first band sales reported. Apples.—Demand slow and prices inclined to be. easier. Californian Newton 14s, Oregon Newton (very little offering at • present) 16s, American Stayman’s Winesap 9s to 11s. Wool. —Bradford market weak.
