FOX FILMS COMPANY
RECEIVER APPOINTED
HEAVY LIABILITIES
NEW YORK, 21st January
When William Fox, thirsting to combine the country's theatres, paid £B,000,000 for Marcus Loew's chain, he took the first foolish step which sent Fox Films to a receivership, according to Court statements filed to-day. A contract was also made for the purchase of theatres in London for £l,000,000, but Fox was never able to furnish the company for this deal. The company's total obligations, it is alleged, amount to £18,000',000.
