HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT

The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated Ist February, from, the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Tallow. —No auction this week. Fair spot demand, and good demand for gut and low sorts for forward shipment. No change in prices. - Eggs.—Market irregular, with somewhat better tone towards end of week, though arrivals more than sufficient for demand: Cheaper grades and uncleared arrivals of colonial I weak. English, 18s to 22s per,long 100; Danish, 12s to 13s 6d; Dutch, 12s 9d to 16s"; Belgian and French, 12s" to 13s 6d; South African and Australian, lis to 12s 6d.

FROZEN MEAT MARKET

Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated 31st January, 1930:

As compared with last week's quotations, lamb is unchanged. Best North Island wethers under 4811) 1-4*l per lb higher, others unchanged. Ewes 1-Hd per lb higher. The market for lamb is steady. There is a fair demand for mutton at ruling prices.

LONDON SHEEPSKINS SALES

Dalgety and Company report under date London, 31st January:

At the sheepskins sales there wero offered 3,350 bales; sold 2,325 bales. Following is the range of prices:—Merino, •} to full woolled 8d to 9Jd ; 1-4 to \ woolled 5d to Bid; short and shorn 4JUI to 6d. Crossbred f to full woolled, fine lOd to l>2d; medium and coarse B}d to 10i-d ; 1-4 to i woolled fine 8d to lOd; medium and coarse 7id to 9d; medium and coarse 7£d to 9d; short and shorn 6Jd to 8d; lambs 9d to 10£d.

LONDON WOOL SALES

Messrs E. Buxton and Co., Ltd., are in receipt of the following wool market cablegram from their London agents, Messrs Sanderson, Murray and Elder, Ltd., dated Ist inst.:—Greasy merino, best descriptions, par to 5 per cent, advance ; crossbred greasy, opening rates are barely maintained; crossbred scoured advanced 5 per cent. All other descriptions of wool market firm. Sheepskins declined 15 to 20 per cent.
