HUTT BY-ELECTION

PROBABLE CANDIDATES (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON. 13th. November. As Mr Wilford's appointment as High Commissioner will necessitate his resignation from his seat a bv-election for the Hutt will follow. Mr 11. JD. Bennett, who contested it in 1922 in the interest? of Preform intends to be a candidate, but what party he will support is not stated. It is most probable the Reform Party will put up a candidate on this occasion and it is said to be certain the United Partv will also have a candidate. Mr Walter Nash was the Labour candidate at the last two elections, and it is assumed he will again receive nomination. The names of Sir Alexander Roberts, Mayor of Lower Hutt and Mr W. T. Strand, e x-Mayor, are suggested as possible Reform candidates.
