TARAKOHE FATALITY
THE LATE MR STUBBS

CHHISTCHUIH7H, This Day Mr Arthur Dylas Stubbs, one of the engineers at the Tarakphc Cement Works who was killed by the earthquake on Monday, was an old Christchurch boy, anad a son of the late Mr J. Stubbs, who was a railway inspector in Canterbury many years ago. Mr Stubbs saw active service in the South African war, and also enlisted Tor service in the Great War. He was exceedingly popular and his death will be mourned by a wide circle of friends and relatives in Christchurch. Several of deceased's relatives left yesterday .for. Tarakohe, including his father-in-law, Mr E. Farr, Mr H. Farr, and Mr A. D. Ford. Mr Stubbs leaves a widow and three sons.
CLOSED TEMPORARILY Out of consideration to his staff, who arc suffering from nervous strain, Messrs B. Tratlien and Co. have closed their premises while the tremors continue. It may be pointed out that Tratlien's building was not the one referred to in last night's "Mail" as having sunk five, inches. A number of other business premises also closed down for the day.
