Messrs Blcwott and Russell were appointed delegates to the N'.Z.l-LU. The sum of £2 2.s was allot led for Hie laic Mr J. Peake's memorial. The request of the Marlborough Union, information concerning elect lie lighting of I'nathal! ground, was .acceded to. A letter was read from the Nelson Jockey Club asking the Union to postpone its fixtures on 27th April (race day). it was considered that it would be unwise to postpone the fixtures in view of the heavy programme facing the Union and the request was declined with regret. Various classifications were approved of. With a view tr, lessen Hu* expense of numerous trips to town by the Rover (Wakefield) thirds, a resolution was carried (Messrs bitching and Russell): “That it be a recommendation to Hie fixture committee to arrange, as many third-class matches at Richmond as possible. Mr Rlineoe moved, according to motion: “That the dinner given to visiting fieddon Shield teams as a term of . entertainment lie dispensed with ’' The motion caused an animated discussion, and when put f.o the meeting was negatived, hut the delegates were instructed to vote in that direction at (lie forthcoming annual meeting of Soddon Shield Unions to ho. hold in Wellington.
