NELSON HOCKEY ASSOCIATION

ANNUAL MEETING The annual general meeting of tlie Nelson Hockey Association was held in the Institute last evening. . The chair was fakeii by Mr E. Davidson (president of the Association) and the following delegates were present: Messrs Orankshaw and Whitwell (Kiwi), AleBride (Federal), Hay and Allport (Stoke), Oldershaw and Quintori (Y.M.G.A.), Pehney (Wesley), Andrews (Brightwater), Lipscombe (Riwaka), Big- | gar (Kia Ora), Gallen (Hockey Referees Association). Mr R. J. 15. Smith (vice- i president) was also present. Moutere ladies' and men's clubs were repre- , sent'ed by Messrs Teece and Henderson. THE REPORT The report presented by the Management Committee stated inter alia: An increase was shown in the number of teams competing in the men's senior competition, six clubs being represented. Four teams took part in the junior competition. Six teams competed in the ladies' championship competition and five teams took part in the school competition. During tho season the clubs in tlie Takaka district were granted permission to form a Sub-Association and conduct tlieir own district competitions. The competitions resulted: Men's senior championship, Federal Club; junior championship, Kiwi A; ladies' championship, Riwaka A; schools championship, Stoke; senior Charity Cup, Federal; junior Charity,Cup, Kiwi. A. The Federal club, won both the senior and' junior and the ladies' tournament was won by Brightwater. It was stated that an extra playing ground was urgently needed. In conclusion the committee expressed thanks to those who had made,donations to the association; to tlie members of the Referees' Association; and to "The Mail" ■ for,reports of matches.^. The election officers resulted as follows:, Patron, Mr H. R. Duncan; president, Mr E. Davidson; vice-presi-dent, Mr R. J. B. Smith; hon. secretary, Mr,S. Oldershaw; hon, treasurer, Mr V. R. Nairn; management committee; the President, yice-President, Sec-retary-Treasurer, and Messrs Lipscombe, Whitwell, Best and Biggar; hon. auditor, Mr H: C. Fletcher; delegate to N.Z.H.A., Mr R. Grade; delegate to N.Z.L.H.A., Miss Gilfedder; men's senior selector, Mr E. Davidson; men's junior selector,. Mr C. Lipscombe; ladies' selector, Mr Gallen. ' The following honorary members were elected: Tho Hon. H. Atmore, M.P., Hon. W. W. Snodgrass, M.L.C., Messrs T. A. Hi Field, T. Newman, C. Spear, W. A. Dee, B- Trathen, 0. Barton, A. Ji Findlay, W. Pope, A. Glasgow, H. J. Savage, \V. Lock, W. J. Moffatt, A motion to vary the rule respecting the election of a management committee submitted from a, previous .general meeting" of delegates failed to find any support. ■ ■, ■ It was decided that the Nelson Hockey Association be represented at the combined' opening on Saturday next, by a senior match Kiwi v. Y.M.C.A. and junior, Wesley v. Kiwi. ~ , After, some discussion it was resolved that the, championship fixtures commence on 27th April next. A resolution of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr E. J. Kemnitz was passed.
