BOY THROWN BY CATTLE DEATH FROM BROKEN NECK An inquest' concerning the- death <>f Tini George Awa was held at Rakauniiinga (says llio N.Z. "Herald") boforo Mr I l '. A. Jones, coroner. George Awa, miner, identified the body as Unit- of liis son aged 13.1 years. Early on Tuesday morning deceased went to Iluntly on an errand for nis mother. Ho was riding a pony and had no saddle. He was a good rider, and had frequently ridden the pony on previous occasions. Rangi Kiiidall. a labourer, of Rakaumanga, said tJint shortly alter 8 o'clock on Tuesday morning he saw deceased coming along the road from Ihmtiy riding a pony, lie was riding very fnst, and at the same time met a mob of cattle coming in the opposite direction. Ho came riding right through the cattle and bumped into one, which 'fell, lie then bumped into another calf and both, the calf and the pony fell. The pony rolled over the hoy. Witness, with another native., picked the hoy up and ■carried him to the sehcolhouse. _ He never spoke, but was breathing a little Dr R. C. Macdiarmid stated that in response to a telephone call ho arrived at the schoolmaster's house at, 9.20 a.m.- The hoy was lying on a sofa, euiie unconscious, and breathing at long intervals. Ho died five minutes afterward 1 !. A further extensive examination of the body revealed no external injuries, but the spinal column was completely 'Fractured at the neck. This was the cause of death.

The coroner returned a verdict that deceased came by his death through a fracture 'of the spinal column caused by being thrown from a horse.
