TRANS-CONTINENTAL FOOT RACE

NEW YORK, 30th March
The trans-Continental foot race to Los Angeles will begin here to-morrow. Prizes total 60,000 dollars, 25,000 of which go to the winner, and 10,000 to the second. There are 167 competitors, the youngest of whom is 21, and the oldest 63.
The race is expected to last over three months.
UNOFFICIAL WORLD'S RECORD FOR 100 YARDS
At Dallas, Claude Bracey set a new unofficial world record for 100 yards dash in 9 2-ssecs, several watches timing him. It is not expected it will be accepted by the International Federation, since he had an aiding wind.
