AFGHAN REBELLION

Ex-King Amanuilah is marching on Kabul with 30,000 troops, armed with Russian rides and ammunition. Considerable fighting is proceeding between the rival forces. The rebel King is preparing to defend the capital with a steadily decreasing force against Amanuilah. Another claimant to the throne is Prince Omar Khan, a member of the Afghan Royal Family, who escaped from detention at Allahabad recently. ASSASSINATION AT HERAT CALCUTTA, 30th March. In Herat, the unpopular governor's nephew whom the Governor was planning to put in his place, and a colonel who went to his rescue, were assassinated by mutinous troops. The nephew was a supporter of Amanuilah. Foreigners and Indians have been ordered to leave Herat.
