ROPES SNAP

SUSPENSION BRIDGE ACCIDENT TWENTY PEOPLE IHROWN IN RIVER (United Press Association—By Klectrie Telegraph—Copyright) (Australian Press Association) LONDON, 30lh March. A most remarkable accident occurred at Cotherstone, near Barnard Castle. The ropes of a suspension bridge over the Tees snapped when crowds were crossing from a football match, and the bridge tipped up immediately. Twenty people were thrown in the river, which fortunately was very shallow. Fifteen were injured by falling on a heap of stones in midstream.
