PRISONER ESCAPES
CUTS WAY OUT OF GAOL (United Press Association—Rv Eleotrio Telegraph—Copyright) HOBART, 30th March. A long-sentence prisoner in Hobart Gaol escaped by cutting through the steel bars and plates of the condemned cell in -which he had been placed. A hacksaw was evidently usecl, and the task must have occupied several days. Soap was : used ; in the cuts to avoid detection. The man scaled the wall of the yard, which is 30ft high, and climbed over the roofs of several buildings. This is the second occasion the same man has escaped from custody.
