COLLISION AT SEA
NORWEGIAN STEAMER FOUNDERS CREW RESCUED KAITUNA DAMAGED idnited Press Association—By Electrio Telograph—Copyright) (Received 30th March, 10.5 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The Norwegian steamer Selje, 6600 tons, foundered about 120 miles west of Port Philip Head last night, after a collision with the Kaituna. The latter vessel rescued the crew of the Selje. The Kaituna's bows were damaged and she wirelessed for assistance to enable her to reach port. The Selje had a cargo of wheat valued at £75,000.
A wireless message received at Melbourne from the Selje indicated that the vessel was in difficulties, the words "sinking fast" being faintly heard. The message was obviously incomplete.
