TOWN PLANNING
MEETING OF BOARD (By Tfelezraph.—Press Association) WELLINGTON, 12th February. The Town Planning Board met yesterday. Alany requests were received from local authorities for visits by the Director of Town Planning, and it was decided that where possible all would be given effect to. The Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle opened the meeting. It was decided to seek the fullest cooperation of the Press. The Director is to attend the Alunicipal Conference at Wanganui in Alarch to lay before it the policy of the board in regard to rational planning. He will also address meetings in various towns as time and opportunity permit. The principle of the preparation of regional schemes was approved. Consideration of a number of provisional schemes was adjourned pending further elaboration by the hoard and consideration by the Government regarding possible amendment of the Town Planning Act with respect to regional planning. In the meantime local authorities will be asked to proceed more actively with the preparation of civic surveys. The board will meet every two months.
