XYLOTRIHYDROXYGLUTARIC ACID
— Xylotrihydrnxyglutaric acid! Sounds horrible, but it’s not nearly so bad as it sounds, and vou mav be drinking it soon. In fact, Dr. Warren E. Em ley of the Bureau of Standards told the American Chemical Society _ that it makes good lemonade. Xylose, its principal element, is a sugar which is made from peanut shells and cottonseed bran. it. has a sweet taste, and no food value, and in addition to its possibilities •as lemonade, chemists think it can be utilised as an industral substitute for glucose and as a food, for diabetes sufferers.
