THE REGENT: STAGE BAND PRESENTATION
A deft and skilful combination of melodrama, pathos and comedy told in scenes both colourful and. thrilling make “The Chinese Parrot,” which opens tonight at the Rcgeqt Theatre, one of the rpost entertaining plrotoplays of the season. While Marian Nixon and Edmund Burns are billed as the featured players the cast in reality is all-star and every member deserves equal credit for the success of the picture. The work of Hobart Bosworth, who plays a dual role, and K. Sojin as the Chinese detective are especially good. “The Chinese Parrot” was adapted from Earl Derr Diggers’ mystery novel of the same name. The action takes place in Honolulu, the Mojave desert and San Francisco’s Chinatown and is replete with mystery from beginning to end. The stage hand presentation comprises Clarrie Lee’s orchestra of twelve soloists in the latest popular airs. A full suppoiting programme will be screened.
