(Australian Presß Association.—United Service) • (Received 12th Februaty, 10.30 a.m.) BERLIN, lltli February An ice wave, the worst since 1719 when, records were first kept, was experienced to-day in Silesia where the temperature was 49 degrees below zero. A bridge over the Oder was cracked as the result of the cold. MAROONED TRAVELLERS RESCUED (Received 12th February,' 10.30 a.m.) CONSTANTINOPLE, 11th February. Marooned people in the Simplon exEress were rescued and have arrived ere. TRANSPORT SUSPENDED IN DENMARK /.(Received 12fch February. 10.30 a.m.) COPENHAGEN, 11th February. The island portion of the city is isolated by ice. V. Food is becoming-short. Many shops are closed and transport is suspended throughout the country. ZUIDER ZEE FROZEN •; AMSTERDAM, 11th February. The Zuider Zee is frozen, and it is possible to skate to the Island of Markon. Many canals' are freezing and traffic is suspended. VIENNA, 11th February.

The temperature is 4 minus 16 degrees . Fahrenheit, the coldest since 1775. / The Danube is frozen. At Vienna and in some parts of Hungary -54 degrees of frost were experienced. A nightwatchman at Vienna, returning home, found . both his children frozen to death. »
