Dunedin, between Upper llutt and Trenthum early on the morning of 30th October, were inquired into by Mr Page, S.M. Evidence showed that the man had been at a local hotel, and on the way back to camp at Trentlm-.i deceased became drowsy and lay down on the road. His companion, Leading Stoker Toy, sat down beside him, and later both, were struck by a motor lorry. Deceased was taken to the Police Station, and then to a doctor. In finding that deceased was accidentally- killed by being run over by- a motor lorry. Mr Pitae said the lorry was badly lighted and did not comply with the regulations. He was not satisfied, however, that even with good lights the accident, could have been avoided, for two men in dark blue uniforms and not moving would be hard to pick up.
