(By Telegraph—Special to “The Mail”)
CTIRTSI CHURCH, This Day. John Weismuller, the world’s fastest yrmit swimmer, will probably tour New Zealand next month. Word to tliis effect was received by the Canterbury centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association at its meeting last evening and the centre decided to support the proposed tour. Weismuller, the American champion sprinter, is described as the fastest swimmer the world has known. At the Olympic Games he has broken world’s records- and has impressed all critics with his wonderful speed. There is no other swimmer in the'world to-day, with the possible exception of Arne’ ’Borg,, who would prove such an attraction as Weismuller.
The secretary of the New Zealand Council wrote stating that Weismuller was available for a short tour of New Zealand and that lie would arrive at Auckland on 4th December and leave for Australia at the end of that month.
