282 OVER THE MILLION MARK

The Treasury Department has disclosed that the increased prosperity for 1927 was brought about by the filing of tax returns 011 incomes greater than a million dollars for the year by 52 more persons than in 1926, raising the total of Biu-li incomes to 282. The nation's taxable earnings increased by 4.67 per cent to 22,573.317.907 dollars, upon which tax of 826.245,497 dollars was paid. Reports were filed by 4,122,242 persons, of which 2,464,168 were taxable. Ten persons filed reports of incomes of five million dollars and over.
