The bowling season has opened and there is every indication of a successful :eason. The'green is in belter playing order than it has been for years and the membership has increased. The appointment of a sole selector for representative matches is an experiment, the result of which will no doubt be to (he Club's advantage. The local competitions started last Saturday with full rinks and some interesting matches were played. During the week-end the first match for the Hudson Fours was played. The trophy, consisting'of four silver ferns, engraved with M.8.C., was presented by Mr R. P. Hudson, M.P. The competition was set in motion by a match between rinks chosen by the president and a vice-president respectively, the president winning by a handsome margin. A challenge has already been lodged, and the competition should improve the full rink play of the Club.
