PERSONAL ITEMS
Mr J. C. Johnston, of Richmond, passed away on Saturday after a long and painful illness. The late Mr Johnston, -who was the second son of Mr and .Mrs J. li. Johnston, was educated at the Boys' College. After 'being engaged in surveying in the Christchurch, Auckland and Nelson districts, Mr Johnston joined the State' Forestry .Service, and was stationed in Reefton, Invercargill and Nelson districts. A widow and me small son will lie extended general sympathy in their bereavement.
Prior to the commencement of the business at the monthly meeting of the Nelson A. and P. Association at Richmond on Saturday evening, Mr James Hunt (Mayor of Richmond) moved that a letter of condolence he sent to the family of the late Mr A. Sheat, who fOr many years was formerly a well known and respected farmer in the district. His public service included a lengthy period as councillor and Mayor of Richmond and membership of the A. and P. Association for many years. The motion was carried in silence, members standing. Mr D. 11. S. Riddiford, of Featherston. has been appointed to the Wanganui College Board in succession to the late Mr Robert Wilberton. Mr Riddiford it an old boy of Wanganui Collegiate School, and some years ago he endowed a scliolarsnip of the capital value ol £IOOO, tenable at his old" school.—Press Association.
A Christchurch Press Association tele gram reports the death of the wife of Air G. T. Booth, a member of the Arbitration Court. Sympathetic reference .vas made to her death by Mr Justice Frazer this morning, the Court adjourning lor fifteen minutes.
