POVERTY BAY TURF CLUB SINGLETON WINS AGAIN SECOND HURDLES TO JEN (By Telegraph--Press Association) GISBORNE, 27th October.

For the concluding day of the Poverty Bay Turf Club races the weather was cold and showery.' The track was holding. Results: — Matawhero Handicap, of 130 sovs; one mile.—-2 Tea Lady, 8.0 (Walsh), 1; 4 Toka, 7.7 (C. Davis), 2; 3 Polbnett, 9.11 'Wiggins), 3; 1 Cool Card, 9.8 (France), 4. Won by a neck; three and a half lengths between second and third horses. Time, 1.47 4-5. Bongo also started.

Second Hurdles Handicap, of 140 sovs; one mile and ft half.—l Jen, 10.0 (Corner), 1; 2 Highway, 10.13 (Nixon), 2; 3 Many Colours, 10.5 (Dunn), 3. They were the only starters Won by four lengths; three lengths between second and -third horses. Time, 2.55. Waikanae Hack Handicap, of 130 sovs; six furlongs.—The field all started except Mon Mint, but a false start was declared. The decision was popular with the crowd. Placings in the second start were:—s Nahi, 7.10 (Atkin), 1; 2 Night-watch, 7.10 (N. Davies), 2; 4 Rapiata, 7.9 (Murray), 3; 9 Dimmer, 8.2 (Mackie), 4. Won by two and. a half lengths, a head between second and third horses. Time, 1.23 4-5. Nahi was also first in the false start. Scratched : Plimmerton, Kinsel, Mangaharei, Oddmint. Juvenile Stakes, of 120 sovs; five furlongs.—2 Winnington, 8.4 (Atkin), 1; 3 Busset Moor, 8.1 (Mackie), 2; 1 The Tint, 7.13 (France), 3, bracketed with Bieh Harvest, 7.13 (Wdggin), 4. Won by a length both ways. Time, 1.5. Also started: Baby Prince, Autumrt Eve, Seamstress, Treazzo, Autumn Sun, Million.

Makaraka Handicap, of 160 sovs; one mile.—l Singleton, 8.10 (Wiggin), 1; 4 Princess Nata, 7.2 (C. Davis), 2; 3 Superb King, 7.12 (Mackie), 3; 2 Huikai, 8.8 (Mitchell), 4. Won by one and a quarter lengths, two lengths between second and third horses. Time, 1.46. Also started: Good Sport. Maiden Handicap, of 120 sovs; six furlongs.—7 Master. Cynic, 8.3 (Trillo), 1; 4 Wliakaari, 8.3 (N. Davis), 2; 3 Patutahi, 8.3 (Atkins), 3; 2 Ngahuru, 8.8 (Mackie), 4. Won by a length both ways. Time, 1.19. Also started: Mangaherai, Pereki, Lady Kilham, Ardin, Sun Yet Sen, Pocket Car.

N. Davis has been suspended for a fortnight for jostling Ngahuru on to Mangaharei. Farewell Handicap, of 130 sovs; six furlongs.—B Mtin Mint, 7.0 (C. Davis), 1; 6 Superb King, 8.7 (Butterworth), 2; 4'Jeanette, 8.11 (Mclllro'yj, 3; ‘2 Tea Lady, 7.6 (Walsh), 4. Won by a head, half a neck between second and third horses. Time 1.17. Also started: Huikai, Lipsol, Good Sport, Nightsong. Totalisator investments were £23,285 for both days, as compared with £22,914 last year.
