LONDON, 26th October, the increase, in betting in Britain is revealed in the announcement that a West End firm of bookmakers requested the Post Office to provide within six weeks private exclusive telephone lines to 63 tpwns in England and Wales. The Post Office is charging £IOO.OOO yearly, payable in advance. This is (lie largest single order ever placed here.
